The Borneo Heritage Foundation (BHF) is an active socio-cultural and civil organization focused on protecting indigenous rights, preserving historical sovereignty, and advocating for the cultural heritage of Sabah. It operates as a non-partisan movement championing regional autonomy and biocultural preservation.
Key Initiatives and Objectives: (1) Sabah Statehood Recognition: BHF was instrumental in pushing for the official recognition of August 31 as "Hari Sabah" (Sabah Day), successfully petitioning the state government to commemorate the day. (2) Indigenous and Customary Rights: The foundation actively defends the socio-cultural heritage and land rights of the original indigenous inhabitants of Borneo. (3) Advocacy and Awareness: BHF organizes large-scale, non-political public gatherings (such as the "Sabah 4 Sabahans" movement at the Oath Stone / Batu Sumpah) to educate citizens on their constitutional rights and the historical agreements made during the formation of the Malaysian Federation.
